What the Heck is Red Light Therapy???
I was looking at popular trends for 2024 the other day. Red Light Therapy kept popping up on my search, so I decided to find out what it was. Let’s take a look…
What is Red Light Therapy? According to the Cleveland Clinic,
Red light therapy (RLT) is a treatment that uses low levels of red light to reportedly improve your skin’s appearance, like reducing wrinkles, scars, redness and acne. It’s also touted to treat other medical conditions.
A low-power red laser light is used in this treatment.
More clinical trials need to be performed to determine its effectiveness, but the results are promising. This type of therapy is already used to treat skin cancer, psoriasis, and warts.
This treatment is said to improve skin health by stimulating collagen production, increasing fibroblast production, increasing blood circulation, and reducing cell inflammation—all great things for skin health.
Red light therapy is a fairly new treatment, and more study is needed to determine many of its potential uses. It seems there are few risks associated with the treatment, but as I said before, more study is needed.
