What? There is a casino in Danville, Va., and it is only about

an hour and a half away…let’s check it out.

What do I know about gambling? Truth be told, I know very little.  

My gambling experience consists of two things. We would play blackjack as kids, and our currency consisted of toothpicks. The other gambling adventure I had was in Vegas. I was there for a work conference, and one night, a few other nurses and I decided to hit the Vegas Strip. I found myself in this vast Casino playing the penny slots. I soon became bored and went to the bar for a drink instead. Let’s remember also I did play the lottery once or twice, but with no wins to brag about.

Yes, a Casino is indeed coming to Danville, VA, in 2024.

It will be called Caesars, Virginia. 

 

 Caesars Virginia is slated to open in 2024. This Casino will consist of 500 room hotel, 1300 slot machines, 24 live table games, 24 electronic table games, a poker room, and a Caesars Sportsbook. There will be a spa, bars, restaurants, and live entertainment along with gambling.

I had the opportunity to check it a couple of weeks ago. From my house in West Cary, according to Google, it will take me 1 hr and 21 minutes to get there, so it is an easy day trip.
The bright white tent is appealing as you drive up. We got there early enough to find a parking spot near the tent. There is also plenty of overflow parking just across the street.

As you drive up to the temporary facility, you can’t help but notice the 3 very tall smoke stacks. They are called The Three Sisters. These three smokestacks were part of a Brick Mill Building. Much of the architecture of the Casino will be based on the smoke stacks.

Being the big spender that I am, I entered the tent with my $20 ready to spend. 

You will find security as soon as you enter the building.  
We were greeted by some very nice people and welcomed into the tent.

The room is expansive and very open. It did not seem crowded at all. There were machines and tables, and a small cafe where you could buy food and drinks. We scanned the room, trying to figure out where to begin.

The first thing I wanted to find was the penny slots. Having only $20 to spend, I wanted to make my money last. I found many machines which showed a one-cent symbol. I soon found it meant less than a dollar. Most of the games we played were around 60-88 cents a play.
I hesitate to show you the game that made me the most money….that should be my secret…just kidding. The game where I came out ahead was the Dean Martin game.

By the time I found this machine, I had lost most of my $20 but managed to get much of it back. I found the Dean Martin game and decided it would be my last machine, and I came away with over $60…Happy Day

With my winnings, I could afford a nice lunch after our gambling experience.
My partner in crime, Rocky, had another machine that was his favorite that he had a lot of luck on…

One thing you must do when you go in is get a Rewards Card. Each time you play a machine, you put the card in while playing, and you can accumulate rewards. Here is a link that explains it a bit more…

Rewards Card. I have the starter card, but the more you play, the greater your odds of getting a better card. I know I will have this yellow card for a long time…perhaps forever:-)
