I really love having a clean and tidy home. Do I keep it that way all the time? Well, let’s just say I try. I especially enjoy keeping my kitchen clean and organized, but I want it to be an easy process. The other day, while making sloppy joes, I got distracted and ended up with a bit of burnt residue stuck to the bottom of the pan. Now what? How do you effortlessly get that stubborn burnt stuff off your pan? A friend assured me it’s easy, so let’s talk about it!
I decided to see how others tackle stubborn burnt-on messes and came across an article by Ashley Poskin on The Kitchen that lists five cleaning methods—including vinegar and baking soda, lemons, dryer sheets, foil balls, and dishwasher tablets.
I hadn’t read Ashley’s article before facing my own burnt mess. Usually, I rely on SOS pads, but when I ran out, I tried soaking the pot overnight. The next morning, the burnt residue wouldn’t budge. I rummaged under the sink for a solution and found only a magic eraser—no luck there; the mess stayed stuck.
Just as I was heading to the store for SOS pads, Rocky gave me a lifesaving tip: fill the pot with hot water, add a dishwasher pod, let it dissolve, stir, and then let it sit. To my surprise, after an overnight soak, the burnt bottom wiped away easily with just a dishcloth—no scrubbing required.
If you ever find yourself with a burnt pot and no SOS pads, try the dishwasher pod method—it worked like a charm for me. Thanks, Rocky, for the tip, and thanks to Ashley for sharing all those great ideas!
Wishing you a cozy and joyful home!
