We were setting off on a mini weekend getaway, driving from Cary to Asheville—a trip that takes around four hours. Wanting a nice place to stop for lunch halfway through, a friend recommended Hickory, NC. A bit of digging led me to discover a charming spot called Olde Hickory Station, a beautifully restored historic train station right in the heart of downtown Hickory. This unique venue is run by Olde Hickory Brewery and also features a specialty market, making it the perfect lunch stop on our journey.
Here are a few highlights from their website: Olde Hickory Station is open seven days a week, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On weekends, they also serve brunch. Plus, they have an in-house bakery and market, adding to the overall charm of the place.
There is a full service lovely bar…
Olde Hickory Station offers handcrafted cocktails, as well as wine available by the glass or bottle. The building also houses a market for guests to explore. You can check out their full menu online, featuring all meals and a variety of drink options.
I can’t say enough about this burger—it was fantastic! The menu offered plenty of tempting choices, but Rocky and I both went for the Goat Cheese and Pepper Jelly Burger, and it did not disappoint. The combination of creamy goat cheese and sweet pepper jelly was a perfect match. I highly recommend giving it a try!
I would love to return to this delightful restaurant. I’m planning a day trip to explore Hickory, and lunch at Olde Hickory Station is definitely on my agenda. If you find yourself in Hickory, I highly recommend giving Olde Hickory Station a try—the atmosphere is inviting, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious.
Happy Travels Everyone!
