There’s a powerful quote by Sally Koch that really resonates with me: “Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.” Even when we’re facing our own challenges, sometimes those difficult moments are exactly when reaching out and helping others can have the most profound impact. It shifts our perspective, offering new meaning and connection, not only supporting those in need but also lifting our own spirits in the process.
Helping others truly feels good. When we do something kind, our brain releases “feel-good” chemicals that boost our mood and inspire us to keep spreading kindness. And it doesn’t have to be anything grand—small acts like a smile, a call to a friend, or holding a door can make a big difference, brightening someone else’s day and ours as well. Plus, lending a hand when we feel lost can give us a renewed sense of purpose and help us discover what truly brings us joy.
Every way we reach out to help others matters. For most of us, the best opportunities often come from everyday encounters—a neighbor who could use a hand, a local charity making a difference, or simply someone who needs a listening ear. These small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
I truly believe we need to keep our hearts open to every opportunity to support those around us. Sometimes that help comes in the form of money, but more often, it’s something as simple and powerful as a hug or a genuine smile that can lift someone’s spirits. It’s also okay to be on the receiving end of kindness—there were many times when, feeling low myself, a small gesture of warmth made all the difference. Compassion, in any form, can heal and connect us in ways we don’t always realize.
Keep your eyes open for an opportunity to care for others today.
God Bless You On Your Journey!
